parking. In addition the Homestead Trail Reroute has been completed for horses.

BCHA would like to thank the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks for building new designated horse trailer parking at the South Boulder Creek West Trailhead. Parking is located on the west side of Highway 93 as you head south out of Boulder. Tack up and take the South Boulder Creek Trail west from this parking lot. There is  several hours of good riding in the Mesa Trail/Homestead Trail/Shanahan area (shoes or foot protection recommended).

Thanks also to the Open Space and Mountain Parks trail crew for rerouting the Homestead Trail away from the old log steps this past summer, and for fine-tuning it in December to construct an equestrian detour around a short, steep rock stairway. The rest of the trail has been reconstructed as well, making a nice easy loop from the South Mesa Trailhead, up into the canyon and back down around to South Boulder Creek. The good news is, both projects are now better for everyone, including hikers!

Happy Trails!
Suzanne
