Date Change: Update on Walker Ranch Management Plan

It would be great if we could get some horse owner turn out at the next meeting to show support for horses.

Management claims that equestrian use has dropped from 2% to 1%.  Fortunately they also acknowledge the need for horse trailer parking—because there isn’t any!  Well, of course equestrian use has dropped, the Wall trail is actually closed to horses (although they say blandly that “equestrians and bikes must dismount”) so we can’t make the loop;  and there used to be horse trailer parking but they took it away.

In anticipation of the Public Meeting on April 16, the Walker Ranch Management Plan draft is available online for your review http://www.bouldercounty.org/doc/parks/walkermplandraft.pdf

Due to weather Boulder County Parks and Open Space has changed the date to May 7,
from 6–8 PM, Houston Room at the Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 1750 33rd Street, in Boulder. The meeting will be in the same format.  I will send out further notices as the date approaches. The public comment period will still be from April 15 to May 15.

This is the first public draft and changes will certainly be made. However, this will give you an idea of the major proposals being made by Boulder County Parks and Open Space staff.

Thanks BCHA
