About the speakers:
Cheryl Winter grew up in Boulder riding on what is now Mt. Sanitas Open Space. She bought her first horse at age 14 and did pack trips in the 1970’s and 80’s. Her endurance riding career started in 1989 and she has amassed 6,590 competitive endurance miles.
Those miles include 14, one hundred mile races (e.g. Tevis, Race of Champions, Big Horn 100 and The North American Championship in Flagstaff, Arizona), including three and five day multi-day rides (e.g. Renegade, Shamrock, XP and The Outlaw Trail). She now enjoys riding fit horses on trails.
Randy Winter grew up in New York City. He started riding when he met Cheryl in 1978 and he agreed to “marry me, marry my horses” when they married in 1981. He survived pack trips with Cheryl and her friends. After conditioning Cheryl’s horses for a few years he started competing in 1992. He has now survived 1,755 competitive endurance miles. Randy also was a former BCHA President, and started Max Tack in 1991 making rope halters and braiding yacht rope leads. He also invented the Rein Safe and continues to do trimming and caring for the barefoot horse in addition to fitting and offering EasyBoot products.
