Highlands Ranch Backcountry Competitive Trail Ride
Littleton, CO
Limit 70 Riders (Type A Two Day – O/N/CP) June 20-21, 2015

Come join NATRC for the Highlands Ranch Backcountry Competitive Trail Ride just southwest of the Denver metro area. Ride with us through 8,000 acres of rolling hills, treed and meadowed valleys. Enjoy the beautiful wildflowers and the panoramic views of the Front Range. These trails are on private land and not open to the public so come join us for an exclusive chance at some close in back country riding! The camp is located between Littleton and Castle Rock, Colorado off CO-85 on Ron King Trail. No dirt roads!

Horse water provided. Bring your own people water. All dogs must be secured at trailers when not on leashes. Horse panels up to 12’x12’ allowed.

Elevations vary from 5,800 ft to 6,300 ft. Footing is good, but can be rocky. Shoes or boots are recommended. This is almost summer in Denver, and weather can be cool and rainy to hot and sunny. Bring suntan lotion, and make sure you can carry adequate personal water.

The pre-ride check in begins at 2 PM on Friday June 19th, and will continue until dark. Please make arrangements for late check-in if necessary. A First Time Competitor meeting will follow each briefing. Each evening riders will be given maps and a briefing for the following day’s trail.

Meals for Competitors:
Saturday evening will be a pot-luck where management will supply the meat portion of the meal for volunteers and riders. Meals for volunteers start Friday evening, breakfast, lunch, dinner thru Sunday lunch.

Ribbons for horse and horsemanship will be awarded for 1st-6th place in each division and class. Sweepstakes will be awarded for open and novice and combined horse/rider CP.

The ride will be conducted under current NATRC rules. We will be offering the Distance Only (DO) class for those who wish to complete the ride for mileage only. Colorado law requires that out of state horses have current Coggins and health papers. Bring copies to registration.
